Sketchdump Apr 2010
I haven't been posting anything here for a very long time. So I thought i'd put an end to it by sharing some random character sketches from my sketchdump. Most of these have been done while developing characters for my comic strip 'Marcus and More'. I also have some glad news for you. My online strip Marcus will no longer be just an online strip. It will be appearing nationwide as a weekly/fortnightly strip on the saturday suppliment of "The Indian Express". I will be uploading the strips on my comic blog (www.marcusandmore.blogspot.com) once they have appeared in the paper. Once again, thanks a heap for all the love and support, guys!
Random girls that "happened" during a life study session prior to developing the characters for my short fantasy "Jacque and Jill". You can read an excerpt from the story here (LINK)

Captain Wolfberry
Yup he is the new Zid (If you happen to know who Zid is). You'll be seeing him in action soon on Marcus and More

Caliban
Caliban from 'The Tempest'. I think every other character in the play had been rather unfair to him. One cannot be branded a bad guy just because one looks conventionally bad, is the son of a witch, and possesses a free will (unlike Ariel who didn't know any better than to follow every single order given by Prospero)

The Kabuliwala
A drifter had come to our door a few days ago asking for food and clothes. He reminded me verymuch of the Kabuliwala from Tagore's Story. Maybe I will see him again someday, maybe I wont. I would like to think that he has a home with a wife and a little daughter to go back to. He did not by any means look evil or the kind who'd have drugged kidnapped children in his sack. He looked a bit gloomy and weary though. The cynic in me tells me that it could have been a practiced expression. One that he puts on every time after ringing a doorbell. Maybe its just my defense mechanism getting triggered so as to not let me feel guilty about being unable to do anything remarkably kind for him. But he seemed grateful for what little he received - old clothes and some fruits. As the days pace by, I couldn't help but take some time off to doodle my version of him. Maybe deep down inside me, there still is a hint of guilt!

More 30-90 min warmups
The hummingbird
Tiny black wings twinkling green and gold,
These droplets of joy that our hearts behold.
Spreading colors and magic they flit and fly,
Coming and going in the blink of an eye
Inspired by some poem I chanced upon a long time back. Cant seem to remember anything except for "blink of an eye" though. So I made up the rest :D
